At the Al-Farabi Center, a formal visit took place by Tan Huism, Executive Director of the Qatar National Library
Tan Huism joined the Qatar National Library in September 2021. Prior to that, she served as Senior Director of the Archives and Libraries Group at the National Library Board of Singapore.
She also held the position of Director of the National Library of Singapore, where she led a team responsible for collecting, preserving, and providing access to Singapore’s documentary heritage. Under her leadership, a program was launched to digitize materials related to Singapore that are held overseas. She chaired the Digital Preservation Taskforce, initiated digital internship and creative residency programs, and produced video series showcasing items from the library’s collection.
Additionally, Tan Huism organized several exhibitions for the National Library of Singapore, including “Stories of the Malay World: Manuscripts and Early Books.” She also serves as Secretary of the IFLA National Libraries Section.
On May 23, 2022, Tan Huism participated as a speaker in the Libraries Lead forum’s panel discussion titled “Libraries as Catalysts for Achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals.”
