Expansion of International Academic Cooperation within the Framework of the Al-Farabi Center Branch at Istanbul University
Within the framework of the branch of the Al-Farabi Center at Istanbul University, a new stage of international academic cooperation has begun. Professor of the Department of Philosophy of the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Tursyn Hafizuly Gabitov, and Associate Professor of the same department, Director of the Al-Farabi Research Center, Pirimbek Mukhanbetuly Suleimenov, during a special academic visit, met with the head of the branch — the well-known Turkish scholar Abdullah Kizilcik.
During the meeting, strategic directions for joint academic research aimed at studying the legacy of Al-Farabi from the perspective of modern humanities were approved. Within the framework of cooperation, a number of significant academic initiatives are planned. In particular, the preparation of an international academic journal based on studies of Al-Farabi’s heritage and indexed in the Scopus database is envisaged, as well as the organization of an international Congress and academic conferences dedicated to Al-Farabi’s legacy. These initiatives will enable the systematic integration of Farabi studies into the global academic space.
The project’s special academic significance lies in the study and publication, with scholarly commentary, of two new treatises by Al-Farabi that have not been fully introduced into academic circulation and have not previously been translated. These works open new avenues for rethinking the thinker’s worldview, religious, and political views.
These studies are being carried out within the framework of the fundamental research project No. AP26199967 entitled “The Contemporary Paradigm for the Study of Abu Nasr Al-Farabi’s Religious and Political Views (Based on the Manuscripts of the Treatises ‘Kitab al-Milla’ and ‘Al-Ilm al-Ilahi’)”.
The main objective of the project is a comprehensive analysis of Al-Farabi’s religious-philosophical and political doctrine based on manuscript sources, as well as an examination of the continuity of his ideas with contemporary philosophical, political, and cultural discourses. The research results will be published in international academic journals and aimed at promoting Al-Farabi’s intellectual heritage at the global level.
