The socio-cultural modernization of modern Kazakhstan would not be successful without taking into account the spiritual traditions that we have inherited from our ancestors. The creativity of al-Farabi reflected in itself the eternal desire of mankind for perfection and happiness. The ideals of the virtuous city of al-Farabi were designed to translate into reality the scientific and innovative project for the development of educational activity of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University “Al-Farabi University Smart Sity”. This project, initiated by the rector of KazNU named after al-Farabi academician G. Mutanov, is based on the concept of the virtuous city of al-Farabi.

The innovative project “Al-Farabi University Smart Sity” was developed based on universal spiritual values and scientific and technological progress. Thanks to this project, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is a university of a new formation, in which two main components are simultaneously and harmoniously developed – technological and spiritual-moral platforms.

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is actively introducing digital technology into the university’s activity management system from infrastructure to the educational process. To realize the goals of industrial and innovative development of the country, the university created research and educational centers of international corporations Hewlett-Packard, Cisco, Konica Minolta, Fujitsu, Samsung, Alcatel, Kaspersky Lab, Microsoft , Intel, Huawei, etc. For the first time in Kazakhstan, Al-Farabi KazNU, together with the Aerospace Information Research Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the PRC, opened the Center for Remote Sensing of the Earth. School on small spacecraft created on the basis of Al-Farabi KazNU is proud to launch two nanosatellites Al-Farabi-1 and Al-Farabi-2 in 2017-2018. At the same time, the university carries out systematic work on the spiritual and moral education of youth in the best traditions of Al-Farabi’s philosophy.
